HMIE (Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Education) is visiting the Aberdeen City area in April/May 2008. This agency provides independent evaluations of services to children. This year they are coming to Aberdeen to evaluate how well services are working together to protect children in our area. HMIE Inspectors will speak to children, young people and their families and to people who are involved in providing services to children. The main agencies they will speak to are Aberdeen City Council, Grampian Police, NHS Grampian and the Scottish Children's Reporter Administration. HMIE will also speak to people who provide services to children from the voluntary and private sectors.
HMIE want to know if the services that are being provided by the different agencies are making a difference to keeping your children safe. They will look at how well agencies work together to do this, and will evaluate services aimed at
- preventing child abuse
- investigating child abuse
- the help given to children to recover from abuse
HMIE will be here from 12-22 May 2008, and the Lead Inspector's name is Kevin Mitchell. If you would like to speak to Kevin or one of the inspection team about services that protect children in Aberdeen City, please contact them at Aberdeen City Council.
