COUNCIL TURNED DOWN DEPUTATION

Aberdeen City Council turned down a request to hear directly from the Cyrenians in relation to the cut of £880k from their budget. (So the submission is attached).

Paul Hannan, Chief Executive said, "It is extremely disappointing that this Council who is urging groups to talk to them won't allow groups like the Cyrenians a mere 10 minutes to continue to argue their case".

Not only did the Council not listen to deputations but they dispersed all the questions and motions about the cuts to various Committees over the coming weeks. "I think they are using this as a tactic to dissipate the effects of the protests against the cuts", said Paul Hannan, "and they might think that by put off dealing with these questions and motions for several weeks that momentum will be lost from the massed protests last weekend."

The Cyrenians service users and staff are bitterly disappointed that the voices of the disadvantaged are again not being heard.
