FIRST MINISTER SUPPORTS ABERDOIANS MOST IN NEED
First Minister Alex Salmond is supporting Aberdonians who will be worst affect by the credit crunch by being a guest speaker at the annual business dinner run by the Cyrenians, a charity that provides support to local people who may be affected by homelessness.
As the credit crunch takes hold across Britain more and more people are struggling to afford their homes. This means that these people are at risk of losing their homes and effectively becoming homeless. In this situation the Cyrenians can provide support and guidance and help people to move forward with their lives again.
However following the recent funding cuts from Aberdeen City Council the Cyrenians are struggling to meet the current demand for their services. This appears to be a situation that is mirrored across Scotland. The First Minister could however ‘save the day' with his campaign to see Scotland benefit directly from profits from the oil industry.
The Cyrenians' Fundraising Manager Amy Grant said: "The First Minister is showing us that he really cares about the people of Aberdeen and his support at the business dinner will mean that we are set to raise a lot of money allowing us to provide more services to those most in need".
The Cyrenians' 3rd annual Business Dinner takes place at the Marcliffe Hotel & Spa on Thursday 3rd July. Tickets and more information can be obtained by contacting amy.grant@aberdeen-cyrenians.org.
