- Steps to take/organisations to contact and address homelessness
THIS IS ACHIEVED THROUGH PUPIL SESSIONS, INVOLVING A COMBINATION OF
-
Looking at the advantages and disadvantages of living at home and some of the things that young people may take for granted whilst living at home, e.g. comfort, security, cooking, no bills etc
- Investigating some of the life skills that young people might lack when living independently for the first time, such as budgeting - a look at how to manage finances responsibly and effectively whether on benefits, low income or student finance.
- Exploring different types of accommodation by giving advice and information on the main types of accommodation available, the pros and cons of these and where to source them. Local Information can be used for each school.
- Exploring individual attitudes and opinions towards homelessness and its many causes and consequences. This involves some work on Stereotyping and addressing some of the myths behind homelessness.
- Providing clear information and contact details on who is responsible for helping homeless people and some of the law surrounding it. This information is localised depending on location of the school.
