  ABERDEEN CYRENIANS SUCCESSFUL

CHRISTMAS APPEAL 2011

Christmas Day passed in a whirlwind, with a kind visit from the Lord Provost Peter Stephen, a wonderful donation of 40 Christmas Meals from Ardoe House Hotel, the generosity of time from our many volunteers and the festive spirit of staff and service users alike.

Our aim at Christmas is to ensure that during some of the harshest time of year we are able to provide our service users with a warm, safe environment, a meal and more shared with friends, kind support and festive cheer.  We aim to ensure we provide our service users with a wonderful Christmas and New Year.

Most, if not all of us use this time of year to reflect on the highs and lows of our own year; and it's usually during this period that we realise that their are members of our own community who have or are suffering more than ourselves.  It's a time of year when most of us feel priviledged to spend this time with family, friends, neighbours, exchange gifts, first footing, sing songs and eat far too much food.  It's the time of year when we all here at Aberdeen Cyrenians, see our community work together to support those in need.  2011 for our organisation has been no different and we are so very humbled and proud to have had your support.

This year Aberdeen Cyrenians hoped to raise around £30,000 to support and extend our services over the Christmas and New Year period.  We are very happy to announce that we far exceeded this target and none of this would be possible without the generous donations of our community.  Over 250 Christmas Shoe Boxes filled with toiletries, chocolate treats, scarves, hats, gloves and more were distributed amongst our many projects and met with sheer delight from our service users.  This, of course, does not count the numerous and invaluable donations of food, clothing, presents and more to flow into the organisation over the last several weeks to support our service users.

While aim to thank as many of our supporters during this period, so many chose to remain anonymous so we would like to extend a hugh THANK YOU to everyone that supported Aberdeen Cyrenians this festive season; with particular mention of Marathon Oil, Connocophillips, Talisman, North Sea Mobil, Rotech, ATR Group, Nexon, Ardoe House Hotel, Copthorne Hotel, ASDA and Tillydrone Butchers for their AMAZING support.
