Marie - Case Study
“Marie is in her mid-fifties and has been homeless on a number of occasions. She has had several tenancies which she had problems maintaining due to dysfunctional relationships with her partner and children. This time she had given up her own council tenancy to become the primary carer for an elderly relative. However Marie had found this responsibility to be extremely stressful and the arrangement fell through. After a short spell in a homeless hostel Marie was admitted to Margaret House and settled in well.
Marie engaged well with staff and was given support to sustain her care of her elderly relative. Her keyworker spent time with Marie discussing her options and her future. Marie decided that the best choice for her would be to get her own tenancy close to her relative.
Following support from the staff team at Margaret House, Marie was offered a suitable flat. As part of the moving-on process Marie was also allocated a Community Support Worker, who continues to assist her to develop the practical and other skills she needs to sustain her tenancy.”

"A lot of people don't realise how lonely and isolated homeless people can be. The Cyrenians are like a family for them and try to provide safe, warm, and comfortable places for them."
