Carl - Case Study
Carl was 18-years old when he moved into the Cyrenians Supported Accomodation Service (CSAS). He had experienced homelessness after a relationship breakdown and which had resulted in him living in a homeless hostel before moving into his tenancy within the Urquhart Road project.
During his time at CSAS, Carl was encouraged to address his drug issue and supported to collect his medication on a daily basis. The staff team worked closely with Carl offering advice and information on local agencies that could offer him specialist support in helping to deal with his drug issue. Carl acknowledged that he would like to see a drug counsellor but at the time had a very chaotic lifestyle and so experienced difficulty in engaging with such services. He was supported through this period by the staff at Urquhart Road.
Carl has been able to develop his life skills sufficiently to feel able and ready to move on to independent living within the local community and, with continued support from the staff, was able to move in to a newly decorated and furnished 'new home'.
