The Christmas Appeal

The Cyrenians' Annual Christmas Appeal is a very important fundraising appeal.  Around £20,000 is needed every year to provide extra services over the festive season.  In 2007 support was greatly received from former Coronation Street star Suranne Jones who launched the appeal.

There are 3 parts to our annual Christmas Appeal:

Christmas Opening

The Cyrenians appeal to local businesses to help us to ensure that the day centre stay open over the holiday period.  Christmas and New Year can be an exceptionally lonely time if your are homeless and with the added bad weather to contend with keeping the day centre open could make a huge difference to our clients at this time of year.

Shoe Box Appeal

We appeal to individuals, families, staff teams, schools, etc to make up shoe boxes containing useful gift items for a homeless person.  Suggestions include hat, scarf, gloves, sweets, books.

Christmas Cards

We ask members of the public to send a Christmas card with a donation inside to the Cyrenians.  This money will be used to pay for Christmas lunches for those who would not otherwise enjoy such celebrations.  The cards are displayed in the drop-in centre and the residential projects.
