James - Case Study

“James first had contact with The Cyrenians in 2000 after getting a Rent Guarantee Scheme flat. He had a long history of substance misuse, both alcohol and drugs, as a response to a relationship breakdown leading to repeated and distressing homelessness.

James received support initially through the Community Support Service. He became involved with the Integrated Community Drug Rehabilitation Service (ICDRS) in 2004. Working in partnership with a number of agencies, coordinated by his keyworker, he received financial assistance with course fees at Banff & Buchan College to undertake qualifications in seamanship. James also received support around paying off debts, work skills and reducing methadone script as well as emotional support.

In 2006 James completed drug treatment and successfully gained employment in the Oil Industry. James benefited from agencies working together ensuring his range of needs was being met at the right time consistent with his drug rehabilitation.”

Rod Leach, General Manager, Number 1 Restaurant, Aberdeen: "I was delighted to offer an auction item at the 2008 business dinner and very pleased it raised so much.  It is rewarding to see such a commedable charity raise as much as it did on what was a very successful, well organised evening".
