Michael - Case Study
“Michael made an appointment to see a resettlement worker through the Duty & Advice Service as he had been homeless for some time. Michael has a history of drug abuse and has been diagnosed with a mental health problem. He had left his previous tenancy two years earlier having accrued rent arrears.
A Resettlement Worker helped Michael to set up a rent repayment plan and helped to complete housing application forms. A regular appointment was set with his G.P. to ensure that his prescription was always available. Michael discussed his drug addiction with his Support Worker and took the decision to visit Drugs Action to start to address his drug issues and to use the needle exchange.
Eventually Michael was offered a tenancy. His Support Worker helped him to apply for a Community Care Grant and helped him to shop for the essential items he needed for his new flat. Michael continued working with his Support Worker for a year and then decided that he could manage himself. Michael has returned to the Duty & Advice Service for occasional support but now appears to be managing his tenancy very well.”

Rod Leach, General Manager, Number 1 Restaurant, Aberdeen: "I was delighted to offer an auction item at the 2008 business dinner and very pleased it raised so much. It is rewarding to see such a commedable charity raise as much as it did on what was a very successful, well organised evening".
