Cyrenians

A local photographer is set to donate a colourful print to the Cyrenians for display within one of their projects that caters for people who are experiencing homelessness.

The Cyrenians has been inundated with food donations during this year’s harvest festival. Local schools, churches and community groups have been very generous in collecting and donating large quantities of fresh and dried foods

The Cyrenians held a fundraising ball last Saturday night (4th) which raised a staggering £15,000.

Pictures that used to belong to legendary singer Annie Lennox are to be auction this weekend to raise money for the Cyrenians. The pictures are a set of 3 and are of white orchids. Annie Lennox displayed these in one of her homes until recently when she decided to donate them for auction to the Cyrenians. She has signed each one on the reverse with the simple message ‘love from Annie Lennox’.

Local people in the Aberdeen area who are experiencing homelessness were given a helping hand today with a £2,000 donation from the Co-operative Community Fund. The money donated will be used to provide ‘Starter Packs’ for people who have been homeless and are now moving into their own accommodation for the first time. Financial restrictions make it difficult for people to sustain their new living environments but ‘Starter Packs’ give people a helping hand to get the things they need to help them settle into their new home.

Homeless people in Grampian will benefit from the adventures of 4 Aberdeen students as they take part in a Student Brake Away rally from Aberdeen to Croatia. The 4 students are collecting sponsorship and the money will be donated to homeless charity the Cyrenians.

Homeless charity, the Cyrenians is urging people in the north east to donate excess food to the local homeless community at the organisation’s premises on Summer Street. Items such as tins of soup, canned vegetables and beans, fresh fruits and vegetables are needed. Donations of rice, cereals, tea or coffee, sugar, packets of soup, tinned fish, and other non-perishable foodstuffs are also welcome.
