Terms & Conditions of Service
We offer the following conditions of service which are determined annually by the Cyrenians and are based around local government conditions:
- Probationary Period: All posts are subject to the satisfactory completion of a nine months probationary period.
- Qualifications: Project Workers who do not already possess an equivalent qualifications, are required to attain an SVQ in Care (Level III) normally within two years.
- Training: The Cyrenians is committed to ensuring that staff are able to maintain and develop their personal skills and levels of knowledge. Staff are expected to attend training provided to maintain mandatory skills and knowledge, and to develop particular skills and knowledge that will contribute to the work going on.
- Hours of Work: Posts in residential units are 39 hours per week and include shift work and sleep-in duties. An additional payment is made for sleep-in duties. Non-residential posts are 36.25 hours per week and may include some unsocial hours.
- Annual Leave: 22 days per annum rising to 26 days after 5 years service, 27 days after 7 years service, 28 days after 10 years service, and thereafter 1 extra day for every 5 years service with the Cyrenians. In addition 12 days are granted for statutory/public holidays.
- Occupational Sick Pay Scheme: Sick pay is dependent on length of service, starting at 2 weeks after 6 months service, and rising after each year of service to 25 weeks after 5 years service.
- Pension Scheme: The Cyrenians is an admitted body to the Local Government Pension Scheme. The scheme is run locally by Aberdeen City Council which is the Administering Authority. All employees are admitted to the Scheme unless they opt out. Scheme members contribute 6% of pensionable pay, and receive full tax relief on contributions.
- Family Friendly Policies: The Cyrenians provides generous provisions for parents and other employees with family and domestic commitments.
- Social Club: Within the Cyrenians there is a small committee that organises social events for staff across all projects.
