We have a team of around 80 dedicated regular volunteers who give up their time to help support people who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness, or who are affected by other forms of social exclusion.
Our team of volunteers cover a range of tasks from cooking and door duty at Street Alternatives sessions, to preparing food parcels, donation sorting, IT support, and driving.
All volunteers have the full support of our dedicated Volunteer Coordinators to ensure they are trained, comfortable and getting the most from their volunteering experience.
We have four main types of volunteering opportunities:
Regular volunteer team
After going through our recruitment and induction process including PVG checks, this team makes a regular commitment to volunteer with the charity. We ensure all our regular volunteers receive training appropriate to their role and the support required so that while making a huge difference to the lives of many they are also able to learn new skills, make great friendships and have an enjoyable volunteering experience. Recruitment is currently closed for new regular volunteers, we will advertise any new opportunities on this page and on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.
Ad hoc volunteer support
We also need support at different times of the year with fundraising events and campaigns. Contact our fundraising team to find out more by calling 01224 625732 or emailing email@example.com.
Christmas is one of our busiest times of the year and to help with the increasing demand for our services and to manage the amazing support we receive from the general public we are recruiting a team of around 20 volunteers to support our services between November 2019 and January 2020. Information sessions are taking place on Monday 2nd and Wednesday 4th September at 6pm at our office at 62 Summer Street in Aberdeen. If you would like to attend please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Booking is essential as places are limited.
We also have opportunities for corporate teams or other groups to come and volunteer on a one-off basis throughout the year. This is generally to help with a specific task such as sorting donations, painting/decorating, making up food parcels, or help with a fundraising event. To find out more email email@example.com
I’ve been a Volunteer since 2015 and week after week I’m amazed by the commitment shown from staff and volunteers to provide various services to meet the needs of some of our most vulnerable adults. This coupled with meeting resilient service users who are so full of character is what makes me enjoy every minute I spend at Street Alternatives!Mandy, Street Alternatives Volunteer
